India’s mustard seed output may touch all-time high of 12 million tonnes this year: SEA

New Delhi.  a record 10 million hectares seeded, mustard seed production is expected to reach an all-time high of 12 million tonnes in the 2023–24 season,

according to industry association SEA. One significant oilseed crop that is planted in the rabi (winter) season, from September to October, and harvested in February or March, is mustard seed.
According to a statement from the Solvent Extractors’ Association of India (SEA), India has seen a notable rise in mustard production each year due to coordinated efforts to grow the region through the mustard model farm project, favorable weather, and competitive prices.
In the 2022–2023 season, the production of mustard seeds climbed to 8.80 million tons from 8.6 million tonnes in 2020–21.
