The latest update of the Solvent Extractor Association (SEA) shows that the high price of mustard seeds during rabies sowing prompted farmers to increase the area of mustard crops.
As of December 17, 2020, the reported area of mustard seeds was 69.94 billion hectares, compared to the same period. 64.52 billion hectares last year; an increase of nearly 9%. If the weather remains favorable in the next three months, we can expect to harvest a large amount of mustard greens, which may be close to the incredible 10 million metric tons (10 million tons) of the current rabies season. This will allow us to add another 80 to 100,000 tons of domestic mustard oil, which may help curb import demand.
