Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government will begin purchasing wheat from farmers on Monday, with the procurement period lasting until June 15. The government has set a procurement target of 5 million tons. The minimum purchase price (MSP) is ₹2,585 per 100 tons, ₹160 higher than last year. A senior official announced that more than 224,000 farmers have already registered to participate in the procurement. According to official data, the government will establish 6,500 collection points through eight agencies, including the Marketing Department of the Ministry of Food. Of these, 3,574 collection points are already operational, operating from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Farmers will receive a wheat processing and cleaning subsidy of ₹20 per 100 tons. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed agencies to provide basic facilities such as shade, drinking water, and seating at the collection points.
