3.9k tonnes of PDS wheat from other states seized in Alibag

Alibag, Police in Alibag in Maharashtra”s Raigad district have confiscated 3,934 tonnes of wheat worth Rs 9.79 lakh that was part of the PDS mechanism of other states but was hoarded here to be sold in the open market, an official said on Tuesday.

The seizure of wheat, stored in 66,539 bags, was made after a raid in Tambati village by Khalapur police, an official said.

“Ten people bought this PDS wheat from other states at low prices and planned to sell it here at higher prices. We have detained three people after the raid and efforts are on to nab the other people involved in this racket,” the Khalapur police station official added. PTI
