New Delhi. Till February 11 this year, the government had procured over 14.73 lakh tonnes of soybean at a floor price of Rs 4,892 per quintal. More than half of the purchases were made in Maharashtra, followed by Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
According to NAFED, Maharashtra procured over 836,000 tonnes of soybean at the floor price, while Madhya Pradesh procured over 388,000 tonnes. Rajasthan procured 98,866 tonnes and Telangana 83,075 tonnes.
In Gujarat, authorities procured over 48,054 tonnes of soybean, while in Karnataka it was 18,282 tonnes. The procurement process is likely to have concluded in most soybean producing states.
According to preliminary estimates released in November, the government expects soybean production to be 13.36 lakh tonnes in 2024-25, up from 13.062 lakh tonnes last year.
