Record import of Arhar Dal

According to sources, as of December 31, 2021, more than 500,000 tons of tur dal have been imported. By the end of March, the total import volume may exceed 650,000 tons, compared with 4.42 million tons in 2020-21.

In 2016, when the retail price of tur dal soared to 200 rupees per kilogram, India and Mozambique signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to import 200,000 tons of tur per year within five years. The Memorandum of Understanding was extended for another five years in September 2021.
