Steps to make cotton cultivation profitable: Union Minister Shivraj Singh

New Delhi: The Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan said here on Friday that his Government would rearrange the penalty and legal action against firms selling substandard cotton seeds and fertilizers.

He stated that his Ministry is working out a plan to ensure that cotton cultivation becomes an attractive venture for farmers.

The minister was speaking at a program organized under the title ‘Consultation with Stakeholders on Enhancing Cotton Productivity’, held at the ICAR-Sugarcane Breeding Institute.
In her speech to the press, she said, “We shall begin a new cotton revolution from Coimbatore. We have discussed the problems that encompass cotton production and how to increase its productivity.”

He also discussed ways to combat diseases affecting cotton.”Our farmers should produce the kind of cotton that the industry needs so that the profit of the farmers should increase. We will do research after listening to all these problems.
