Madhya Pradesh to see jump in soybean yield

INDORE: Soybean yield is likely to jump 5% this season owing to favorable weather and use of early variety of seeds, a survey by the Indian Institute of Soybean Research, Indore revealed. Early variety seeds mature with 85 days of sowing, while old variety seeds mature within 95 days.

The institute has anticipated yield to increase between 1300 and 1350 kg per hectare as against 1250 kg per hectare in the last season.

Sufficient water and use of new varieties of seeds with early maturity have raised hopes for better yields resulting in higher output and negating impact of crop damage in some pockets of the state due to heavy rainfall, the institute said.
