New delhi. To prevent further increases in retail prices, the central government allowed free imports of Tur, Urad and Moong on Saturday. After a three-year interval, the move is a few weeks before the start of planting for the karrif season.
Sources said that due to low inventory levels of traders, their retail prices have skyrocketed in the past three weeks, and imports of all three types of beans have been included in the non-restricted list. Imported goods must be cleared before November 30 this year; according to the official notice, no importation is allowed thereafter.
