This year’s cotton production is 36.2 million bales

New Delhi. According to the provisional estimate of the Cotton Production and Consumption Committee, the cotton production for this season (October 2021 to September 2022) is expected to reach 362.18 million bales.

The committee decided at the meeting on Saturday that since the initial inventory was 7.32 million bales and the import volume was 1.05 million bales, the total supply this season may be 4,458,800 bales, compared to 485.66 bales in the previous season. The demand for textile mills (including small-scale units) is estimated at 32.2 million bales and the export volume is 4.5 million bales.

The export volume for the 2020-2021 season is close to 7.3 million bales. Industry sources said that due to the impact of COVID-19, textile mills’ consumption in the last quarter may be lower than expected. Therefore, the opening inventory for this season may be higher.
